To celebrate Vilnius Theatre “Lėlė”’s birthday, we welcome guests from Liepāja Puppet Theatre with a performance for young people and adults.
“I cannot make you understand, I cannot make anyone understand what is happening inside me; I cannot even explain it to myself.” (Franz Kafka)
A young man Gregor Samza wakes up to find himself inexplicably transformed into a huge insect "monstrous vermin", and struggles to adjust to this condition, as does his family. He seeks support from those closest to him, but his family turns away in fear and he is left alone in his room.
Gregor tries to survive, and while he is overwhelmed by loneliness, his family is overwhelmed by hatred. This family will never be the same again, and although they all long for love, they stray far and fast from that path.
Inspired by Franz Kafka's novel "Metamorphosis (1915), a world is created in which Gregor is the puppet and his very own family members, his mother, father and sister, are the puppeteers. It is an outsider's view of the inner world of a young, lonely and desperate man.
