Rimas Driežis
DIRECTOR, DESIGNER

Born in 1959, in 1972-1979 he studied at the Art Department of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis School of Art. From 1979 to 1984 he studied television directing at the State Conservatory (now the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre; course mentor - Algimantas Galinis). In 1984–1991 R. Driežis worked as a director and artist in Vilnius Theatre Lėlė. In 1986–1988, he consulted the creators of the Lithuanian TV series Children‘s Puppet Theatre and hosted the broadcasts. In 1989–1992 he was the chairman of the Puppet Section of the Lithuanian Theatre Union. Since 2007 he has been directing the Live Puppet Museum of Vilnius Theatre Lėlė, preparing and mentoring exhibitions as well as organizing educational programs.

He had brought together the Holiday Theatre (1994-1998). He has created performances for the Lithuanian television, Vilnius Theatre Lėlė, Kaunas State Puppet and Panevėžys Puppet Wagon Theatres, Lithuanian State Academic Drama Theatre, Vilnius Old Town Theatre, Martynas Mažvydas National Library Puppet Theatre Boy The Pea, Warsaw Puppet Theatre Baj, Žešuva Puppet Theatre Maska (Poland), Tallinn State Puppet Theatre (Estonia). He directed radio performances and published articles dedicated to the history of theatre. R. Driežis is a member of many assessment commissions. Since 2004 he has been a member of the Lithuanian National UNIMA Centre.
